Upper Room Basketball Team participated in the dress parade at the opening ceremony of the Southern Basketball League Conference on Sunday, February 23. They also played the feature match of the evening against Waterhouse Blazers (WB). While all the teams looked smart in their gears, Upper Room looked outstanding and uniformed from jersey to sneakers.
So how about that feature match? Upper Room had the “upper” hand in the first 5 minutes of the game leading WB 10 to nothing. However, the more experienced WB kept their composure, closed the gap and overtook Upper Room by the end of the first quarter. Upper Room rallied back in the fourth quarter, tightening up some loose ends and loose passes and edged closer to WB’s score. Their gallant efforts did not pay off in a win this match, as WB won 68 to Upper Room’s 53. Despite losing, the team demonstrated that it is capable of winning the league and we therefore wish to encourage the players to press on towards the mark.
We also wish to congratulate Tommy McDonald for a good game on Sunday and we continue to shout ” Upper!, Upper!, Upper!” as the team prepares physically, mentally and spiritually for the next match on Sunday, March 2.
